TGIF people
Ahhh FINALLY! I am literally sprinting away from this week and into the weekend. It has felt like the longest week everrrr. Time is such a nuisance. When you want it to go fast it drags, when you want it to go slow its like a race horse. Like this morning when I was getting ready and realized that I should have left for work 10 minutes ago yet I was still standing in my towel with wet hair. Obvi I said to myself "where did the time go?!". And now I keep looking at the clock and saying really? Only 3 minutes have passed since the last time I looked? I think the only solution is to put a stickie note over the clock on my computer screen. Same concept of putting a towel over the treadmill timer at the gym. It lessons the pain.
Speaking of the gym. I have a new fear in life. It's of this man in probably his early 40s that has the same gym time as me. A few weeks ago I was stretching on the mat and he was in a side plank like 10 feet away from me when I hear what could be the sound of rubber sneakers sliding down on the mat. Next thing I know is he is up and gone in less than 5 seconds. So quickly that I am actually concerned that something is wrong. Oh no, he knew what happened, let me tell you, it was no rubber sound. About 10 seconds later I was overcome by a smell that honestly, I have never smelled before and never want to again. It puts my brother to shame. It was worse than this substitute teacher we had in middle school who was allergic to any kind of fragrance, like the kind in soap or detergent or deodorant. He was also a nervous fellow that sweat a lot. The only reason we liked having him sub was because he was the strong silent type that would rather let you watch movies than give you instructions on what the teacher left for us, because you know, that would have meant talking, which would have demanded interaction with us. Anyways, needless to say I abandoned my stretching immediately before I started to dry heave. I was unaware of my new fear until the other morning when I was on the mat stretching and he came over and before anything could happen I had moved to another floor very far away from him. I don't think he figured out what I was intentionally doing until this morning I did the exact same thing when he arrived on the mat and then saw me on the 2nd floor stretching 5 minutes later. Oh well, hope he learned his lesson- take it outside.
Anyways on a brighter note, I am super pumped about the long weekend. My boyfriend is traveling in from Boston and I am pretty sure our only plans for the weekend is to eat, and to eat a lot. The weather is supposed to be fantastic so hopefully we'll walk around enough to work off a part of what we consume. It is super confusing that it is 50 degrees outside in the middle of February in the NE. I am pretty sure the past two years around this time I have been walking in slush every other day freezing my hiney off. I much prefer this. I hope you all have a greatttt weekend!
PEACE.

February 14th.
Valentines day is one of those celebrated days that I absolutely despise the build up to but actually love the day. Regardless of whether you're single or in a relationship, I feel that the only way to really appreciate this day is by not anticipating or thinking about it until you wake up February 14th. Up to this time, I had planned only the things that count, my outfit consisting of an obnoxious amount of pink and what take out food I will gorge on tonight. Other than that, thinking about who will acknowledge their love for me and send me flowers or cards or chocolate is just too stressful to think about. The only safe bet is just to remember how much you love yourself and treat yourself. I will be treating myself to Chinese food, a bottle of red wine, and probably a few pink cupcakes with hearts on them with my roommates. Also, take the time out to tell someone you love them (preferably me or your mama). You'll feel wayyyy better about yourself.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

New Challenge
This is going to be the Cayla can only spend $40 between now and next Thursday challenge. After a long great weekend with my friend Mollie, I realized I did a little excess spending. As in like whoa, what was I thinking. Thanks to all of this spending, mostly on food which unfortunately has already been digested and can't be returned, I promise I will not go hungry on $40 for the next 10 days. I have enough canned and frozen foods in my kitchen that all its going to take is a little creativity. This also means that the beer in my fridge will have to be saved for the weekend (anyone want to come over? BYOB). Issues that I can already see arising- Morning coffee, laundry, and the birthday party I am attending Friday night.
Problem Solving:
Coffee: I am going to have to start brewing my own (total downer and literally the only thing that gets me to the gym in the morning is the promise of a large coffee with a tad bit of milk from the cafe on my way out.) But at $1.95 a jolt, every morning- $19.50 can be saved over the next 10 days.
Laundry: I would say just go dirty, but I have actually stretched myself as it is thanks to my lack of will and time to do it over the past 3 weeks. Therefore, I have no choice. We have laundry in the basement of our building (another joy of living in NYC) $2.25 for one wash and another $2.25 for one dryer. I probably have 3-4 loads of laundry to do that will be squished into 2 loads. So $4.50 for the washers and ill use one dryer for the towels. Everything else, air dry. They use to do it in the pre-dryer days. Surely I can. $6.75 spent, $6.75- $11 saved.
Birthday Party: Become bff's with the bartender then stop being friends once the tip that you have to leave regardless exceeds $10. Who knows how this will turn out but at least $50-$75 saved.
The rest of the money will go to pop-up items (first drink before I become friends with said bartender), random food items that I just NEED and who knows what, probably one coffee. I think I can do this. If you are my friend please refrain from asking me to happy hours or dinners unless you are paying. Thankssomuch.
Today- I have spent nothing. Except for a bus ticket to Boston and this cool contraption that Mollie should be a sales rep for called the Clarisonic. Apparently it works miracles for your skin. There will be updates on that as soon as it gets delivered in the mail. Whoop whoop for penny pinching!

Inspirational Quotes for my 2012
“Decide that you want it more than you are afraid of it.” –Bill Cosby
“Life is too important to be taken seriously.” –Wilde
“A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.” –Robert A. Heinlein, Time Enough for Love, 1973
